This is where Kikuka Wine, made from grapes grown in the Kikuka Region, is produced. It also houses a wine shop offering wine tastings and a restaurant. Here you'll also find Aira Ridge, a shop featuring all kinds of tasty produce and products from nearby Yamaga.

The Kikuchi River Basin has the highest concentration of burial mounds in all of Japan. This museum is located among the Iwabaru Burial Mound Group, which features one of the largest keyhole-shaped tombs in the prefecture. Inside the museum, you can see full-sized replicas and photos of decorated tombs and get a sense of what life was like centuries ago.

Kikuchi Castle, a National Historic Site, was a Korean-style fortress built about 1300 years ago by the Yamato Imperial Court. The site now features reconstructions of some of the buildings, including a rare eight-sided drum tower.

This hilltop park features enormous 1.5-ton stone pinwheels that spin slowly in the outdoor breezes. The park also has a 90m-long roller slide, tennis courts, and a local market.

Three rock formations stretch out from this quiet hillside to the sky. A trail links the central and west rocks and offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The central rock trail takes 20 minutes and the west rock trail takes 40 minutes.

Chibusan Burial Mound, a National Historical Site, is a keyhole-shaped burial mound over 50m in length and constructed about 1500 years ago. The two concentric circles painted on the wall of the tomb look like breasts (chibusa in Japanese), which is how the tomb got its name. About 200m away is the Obusan Burial Mound, a round tomb with a sunken entrance that features repeated triangle paintings and other decorations.

When the azaleas are in season, the entire temple is covered in beautiful red flowers. Nichirinji is also an excellent cherry blossom spot and is home to historical pieces like a monument containing the hair of some of the martyrs in the Forty-Seven Ronin and a monument with a poem by Matsuo Basho.
